The work involves the repair, restoration, and preservation of historic buildings and monuments, with projects ranging from churches and listed civic buildings to ancient landmarks and heritage estates.\n This is an exciting opportunity for a SHEQ professional to apply their expertise in a highly specialised environment — where safety, compliance, and quality must go hand-in-hand with respect for historic fabric and traditional materials.\n The Role The SHEQ Manager will lead and develop the organisation’s Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality strategy across all projects and operations.\n \nKey Responsibilities:\n\nDevelop, implement, and maintain SHEQ management systems aligned with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 45001, 14001, 9001)\nConduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments across multiple live sites\nSupport site teams and specialist contractors to ensure safe, high-quality delivery within heritage-sensitive contexts\nDeliver training, toolbox talks, and compliance briefings\nInvestigate incidents and support continuous improvement\nStay current with health & safety legislation and best practices relevant to heritage and constructionWhat’s Required\nProven experience in a SHEQ role, ideally within construction or heritage environments\nRelevant NEBOSH or IOSH qualifications\nKnowledge of CDM regulations and environmental compliance\nExcellent communication and leadership skills\nA practical understanding of the complexities of working with listed buildings and protected sitesWhat’s Offered\nThe opportunity to work on some of the UK’s most significant heritage projects\nA professional environment with a focus on integrity, craftsmanship, and sustainability\nBased in York, with work on prestigious sites across the UK\nCompetitive salary and benefits package\nA chance to make a lasting impact in a sector that protects and preserves heritage\n\nIf you're ready to bring your SHEQ expertise to a role that makes a lasting difference, we'd love to hear from you
