About the Role

We are looking for a Service Engineer with a software/electrical background to strengthen our Service, Lifting & Handling team. In this role, you will be responsible for service, commissioning, and upgrades of NOV lifting equipment on offshore installations, vessels, shipyards, and workshops. You will collaborate closely with clients and colleagues to ensure safe, efficient, and timely operations.

The position requires flexibility for both domestic and international travel, with assignments performed worldwide. You will report to our service office in Kristiansand.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Perform service, commissioning, and upgrades on NOV lifting equipment offshore, on vessels, in shipyards, or at workshops.
  • Maintain close communication with onboard leadership during offshore assignments.
  • Participate in briefings and debriefings with NOV supervisors before and after assignments.
  • Report findings and update procedures, instructions, and checklists.
  • Interface with relevant departments to gain thorough understanding of NOV products—covering safe operation, testing, calibration, and troubleshooting.
  • Adhere to NOV and client HSE procedures and guidelines.
  • Stay updated on new and existing NOV products.

 

Qualifications & Skills

Essential Qualifications:

  • Technical education and/or trade certificate in a relevant discipline (software/electrical/electro-technical).
  • Ability and willingness to travel for assignments both in Norway and internationally.
  • Eligible for an offshore health certificate (mandatory for the role).
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Must be based in Norway.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with offshore lifting and handling systems.
  • Knowledge of remote-controlled and autonomous lifting systems.
  • Familiarity with motion compensation technology.
  • Communication skills in Norwegian are a plus.
