This role will provide overall management direction for service projects and will perform additional duties that include developing job estimates, procuring equipment and subcontracts, monitoring and accurately projecting job costs, maintaining billing, project schedules, and providing technical support and leadership to the field. Additional responsibilities include providing oversight with the project’s labor team on the day-to-day activities of assigned projects and assisting the sales team in creating solutions for our customer’s needs. The Service Project Manager will also develop and maintain long term customer relationships to foster better communications and develop future work.

Job Description:

  • Manages multiple concurrent active projects by prioritizing project schedules, labor, and deadlines. Ultimately responsible for projects being completed on time and on budget.
  • Reviews project estimates and enters the estimate into the job cost system, as well as reviews the accuracy of the initial estimate.
  • Creates and manages the project schedule to ensure all project team members understand contract terms and conditions, clauses, schedules, or any unusual requirements of the project.
  • Prepares proposals and estimates for service projects and larger service repair opportunities.
  • Defines project and deliverables in collaboration with field staff, estimating and outside design teams.
  • Selects and acquires the necessary equipment and materials to ensure the job is completed successfully.
  • Serves as a support member to the sales team by assisting with estimating, developing solutions and processing all projects sold into the Service Management System.
  • Acquires permits, inspections, submittals, O&M’s, and all other deliverables to ensure projects are compliant and in regulation.
  • Documents OAC meeting results and ensures all action items are completed.
  • Monitors labor schedules to ensure they match project schedules.
  • Visits job sites as required and manages work inspections, checks job progress, project and contract issues and resolutions.
  • Inspects project progress to ensure quality compliance and accurately approves or rejects subcontractor invoicing in a timely manner.
  • Investigates potentially serious job issues and implements corrective measures
  • Manages all change orders to ensure they are processed and incorporated into the current scope of work in a timely manner.
  • Provides material takeoff, estimate, and pricing for change orders.
  • Conducts OAC meetings according to customer and company guidelines and schedules.
  • Provides and updates daily, proper construction related project performance and notes any changes in IFS software for each assigned project and its lifecycle.
  • Initiates progress and final billings with Billing Team and follows up to ensure receipt of payments.
  • Processes purchase orders and approves accounts payable invoices for projects.
  • Ensures overall compliance with Polk Mechanical, Customer, Service Project standards and requirements.
  • Guides the Operations team to implement and execute the highest level of customer satisfaction/service, focusing on planning, implementation, and customer communication.
  • Coordinates with the Safety department to ensure a safe working environment for our customers, team members and the general public.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with Project Management, Field Labor Management, Estimating and Sales.
  • Preferably familiar with the setting of equipment like air handling equipment, plumbing, and other HVAC type activities.
  • Preferably possess a strong knowledge in the area of Service Plumbing, HVAC Service, and equipment installation.
  • Prior experience managing General Contractors and federal construction projects is .
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to independently self-manage projects, while still acting as team player.
