Job Description
Our client is currently seeking a skilled Senior Traffic Engineer to join their team on a contract basis.\n\nPurpose of the job:\n\nTo manage the design, delivery, management and maintenance of highways infrastructure services or projects, and to co-ordinate officers and contractors to deliver them effectively and efficiently in accordance with Council's policies and best professional practice and legislation and within the required time cost and quality constraints.\nTo oversee the detailed design and implementation of projects\n\nPrincipal Accountabilities:\n\nTo provide and manage the design, build and maintenance services and to manage operations for highways infrastructure in accordance with corporate plans and aspirations and all appropriate regulations.\nTo work and supply services in accordance with Construction, Design and Management (CDM) 2015 regulations and to comply with Health and Safety at Work requirements with regard to contracts, contractors on site and contract specifications.\nTo undertake design of engineering works including identification of technical options, taking in to account appropriate contract specifications, design manual and the latest developments in the fields of engineering\nTo supervise term contract and contractors in accordance with applicable contract law, appropriate regulations and local terms, conditions and specifications, including preparation of contract documentation such as task orders and KPI monitoring reports.\nTo organise surveys, site inspections and data capture exercises of various kinds, to evaluate, monitor and track asset and stock condition. Prepare and provide technical advice and guidance on the findings.\nTo manage and monitor assigned revenue and capital budgets including preparation of management reports which include works costs, commitments and projections.\nTo prepare for all stakeholders, reports, briefings and communications detailing information and guidance in relation to highway projects or infrastructure.\nTo manage and monitor asset inventory, attributes, condition and valuations in accordance with code of practices and guidance.\nResponsible for planning and delivering quality checks in relation to services within the framework of quality management and contract specification, including checking and approval of consultant and contractor designs,\naccounts, etc\nTo operate a range of engineering software (including AutoCAD) in relation to design, construction, project management and asset inventories.\nTo manage and supervise technical staff plus additional agency staff/consultants as required on a project basis, and to deputise for line manager as required.\nTo comply with customer care guidelines and initiatives and carry out all duties in accordance with the Council's equal opportunities policy.\nThe post is located in the Highways Division and the postholder reports to the Principal Engineer\n\nContract Details:\n\nEmployment Type: Contract\nDuration: 6 months\nLocation: Central London\nIf you are a skilled Highway and Traffic Engineer looking to take on a new challenge within a dynamic local authority, we would be delighted to hear from you.
