Our valued client is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Principal-Level) for their team in Aurora, CO. This is a contract opportunity with the possibility of extension. All work will be performed on-site.
We are seeking a very senior, hands-on Sr. Systems Engineer for a contract engagement to provide deep technical expertise across core enterprise infrastructure.
This role is designed for a seasoned individual contributor who can quickly assess complex environments, architect practical solutions, and resolve high-impact issues with
minimal ramp-up.
This is not a junior augmentation role. You will be brought in as a trusted technical authority to stabilize, improve, and guide critical systems. You will mentor and train the
current system administrators on the existing technologies.
What You’ll Do
Advanced Systems Engineering andArchitecture
- Serve as a senior technical expert across the enterprise, Microsoft, and infrastructure
platforms
- Design, assess, and improve architectures involving:
- Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Entra ID/Azure AD, Teams, SharePoint)
- Active Directory (on-prem and hybrid)
- DNS, , and authentication services
- Windows Server platforms
- VMware virtualization environments
- Enterprise storage systems (SAN/NAS)
- Identify architectural risks and recommend pragmatic, supportable improvements
High-Level Troubleshooting & Incident Resolution
- Understand and document existing architecture; suggest improvements for
efficiency and security
- Act as an escalation point for complex, multi-layer infrastructure issues
- Troubleshoot across OS, , virtualization, and storage layers
- Perform root-cause analysis and implement durable fixes
- Quickly stabilize environments experiencing reliability or performance challenges
Operational Impact
- Improve documentation, standards, and operational consistency
- Partner with internal teams (security, networking, cloud, application) to unblock
progress
- Transfer knowledge to internal staff as needed
Required Experience & Skills
- 10-15+ years of hands-on enterprise systems engineering experience
- Deep, hands-on practical expertise in:
- Microsoft 365
- Active Directory (design, replication, trusts, GPOs)
- DNS and services
- Windows Server
- VMware
- Enterprise storage concepts and platforms
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues quickly
- Strong architectural judgment and systems thinking
- Excellent communication skills; able to explain complex issues clearly
- Comfortable operating independently with limited oversight

Contract Details

Compensation for this position starts at $60.00/hour and includes optional medical, dental, vision, 401k, PTO, and holiday benefits.
