Position Description
The Senior Subsurface Utility Field Technician is responsible for working in the field performing utility mark out (locating subsurface utility engineering) and geophysical surveying activities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Geophysical/electronic location and designation of subsurface utilities using surface geophysical equipment (RF pipe and cable locators, ground penetrating radar, electromagnetic induction devices).
- Document the entire project by sketches, spreadsheets, and written reports.
- Working in the field performing utility mark out (locating subsurface utility engineering) and geophysical surveying activities.
- Use geophysical equipment software to interpret field data and provide written reports of findings.
- Present findings from projects on CAD maps/plans.
- Maintain exceptional internal and external client relations.
- All other duties as assigned by Project Manager.
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation ranges from $24.00-$30.00/hour depending on experience.

Requirements:
Qualifications
- 3 years of field experience in utility locating.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel to project sites.
- Must be able to pass a drug screening and background check.
- Excellent concentration and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail.
- Exceptional written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams including technical and non-technical personnel.
- Strong planning, organization, preparation, and execution capabilities.
- Strong problem solving/analytical skills.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Primarily work outdoors, must be able to work in extreme heat and cold.
- Must be able to travel out of the Metro Detroit area as needed.
- Travel up to 60-80% of the time.
- Regularly required to walk for long distances.
- Frequently lifts or moves objects up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, vision, and ability to adjust focus.
