Job title: Senior Stress Engineer \nJob Type: Permanent\nStart date: Subject to clearance\nSalary: £45,000 - £64,000 per annum + Benefits \nLocation: Near Southampton\nHours of work: 37 Hours Per Week\n\nThe Role:\nAs the Senior Stress Engineer you will be providing support to the multi disciplined engineering team in the delivery of the clients projects and/or workstreams. With this role you will report directly into the Engineering Lead who is responsible for ensuring and executing design analysis that is fit for purpose to support delivery to quality, schedule and budget.\n\nMain Responsibilities: \n*You will work alongside design engineers to ensure designs are fit for purpose and identify design solutions to solve problems identified by structural analysis performed.\n*You will perform analysis of engineering designs, primarily by hand calculation, backed up with FE analysis if required, across multiple projects.\n*You will be authoring and/or checking of design analysis documentation.\n*You will be the internal focal point for design analysis completed internally and by subcontractors.\n*You will positively influence designs during conceptual/scheme stages to ensure structural integrity while considering improvements such as design for manufacture and cost reduction.\n*You will be able to approach analysis pragmatically and efficiently, working with engineers to ensure design for manufacture is realised.\n*You will provide scheduling and tasking information to the Lead Engineers, Project Engineering Managers and Project Managers to support project delivery.\n*You will provide mentoring and assistance to engineers undertaking design analysis tasks.\n*You will support the creation of standard operating procedures to introduce and develop consistent analysis methods and rules across the engineering department, providing internal training as required\n*You will support business change, via effective change management processes in the context of a Nuclear Engineering fast paced regulatory environment.\n\nExperience/Qualifications:\n*All candidates MUST hold either Degree/HNC/HND in an Engineering discipline or equivalent\n*All candidates MUST have a demonstrable track record in stress analysis and hand calculation using Mathcad.\n*All candidates MUST have a strong working knowledge of BS EN 13001 or BS 2573 parts 1&2 and Eurocode 3.\n* All candidates MUST have experience in analysis/simulation of structures using one or more of the following software packages: ANSYS / ABAQUS / NASTRAN\n* All candidates MUST have worked within a highly regulated environment preferably Nuclear or Defence, Aerospace, Medical/Pharmaceutical sectors etc.\n\nOther Desirable Experience/Quals: \n* Chartered Engineer (IMechE, IET) - Desirable \n* Experience with pressure vessel and piping codes such as PD5500, ASME, PED - Desirable \n* Experience of conducting seismic analysis within the nuclear industry - Desirable\n\nPlease note for this role all candidates MUST be eligible to obtain SC Security Clearance. \n\nInterested in this position?
