Job Description

Founding Engineer | San Francisco | $300,000 & Equity| On Site

We are working with an early-stage AI startup who are building core infrastructure for turning complex, unstructured data into reliable, production-ready systems used by real enterprise customers.

We’re looking for a Founding Software Engineer to help design, build, and scale the technical foundation of the company from day one.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and scale core backend systems that power document intelligence and VLM-driven workflows
• Own production infrastructure holistically, including deployments, monitoring, performance, and reliability
• Design and operate high-throughput, low-latency services in real-world production environments
• Lead systems through the full lifecycle, from R&D to production to enterprise scale
• Build and maintain cloud and on-premise deployments using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm for enterprise customers

Qualifications

• Proven experience building, scaling, and operating production-grade systems
• Strong backend engineering background (Python required; experience with C++ or Rust is a significant plus)
• Solid experience designing and working with distributed systems, including microservices, parallel processing, queues, and caching layers
• Deep familiarity with modern cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Hands-on experience with containerization, orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code tools, including Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and tools like Terraform or Pulumi
• Experience in Quantitative Finance is a huge +

Salary up to $300,000 + meaningful equity
