Were looking for a Senior Scientist in Single-Cell Assay Development to help pioneer and validate novel approaches to scalable single-cell analysis. Youll be instrumental in designing, optimizing, and validating robust single-cell workflowsfrom concept to product. As an early team member, you'll shape both the scientific direction and the culture of the R&D team, helping establish a lean, high-performing, and high-output environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of novel single-cell assays (e.g., scRNAseq, scDNAseq, multi-omic) tailored to CS Genetics proprietary platform.
  • Design and execute experiments for assay optimization, troubleshooting, and validation using DOE and data-driven approaches.
  • Collaborate across teams (Molecular Biology, Automation, Computational Biology) to integrate chemistry, workflow, and software into unified products.
  • Establish best practices in lab execution, documentation, and data integrity to ensure reproducibility and quality.
  • Build scalable protocols and documentation to support eventual tech transfer to manufacturing.
  • Help shape team culture, workflows, and scientific strategy in a startup environment that values autonomy, speed, and rigor.
  • Mentor junior scientists and contribute to recruiting efforts as the team grows.


Qualifications

  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field (or MS + 5+ years of hands-on experience).
  • 37 years of industry or advanced academic experience developing single-cell genomics assays.
  • Deep understanding of molecular biology principals and practice, nucleic acid chemistry, and NGS workflows.
  • Strong bench skills in molecular biology (e.g., RT, ligation, tagmentation, amplification).
  • Experience with assay optimization using DOE/statistical design.
  • Familiarity with lab automation and high-throughput sample handling.
  • Experience culturing mammalian cells
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving startup; capable of switching between high-level strategy and hands-on execution.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; commitment to quality and innovation.
  • Experience with basic processing and analysis of single cell data is a plus
