We are currently recruiting for a Senior Research Assistant, Level III, to assist NOAA Fisheries by leading the development of manuscripts, and may also lead the development of working groups and symposia.

This is a full-time position. Work will be performed at the NEFSC Facility or via remote offsite location as pre-approved by the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) and Project Lead The contract has a one-year base period and will have up to four (4) 12-month option periods.

Duties:

  1. Search and capture salient literature on topics provided by the Government.
  2. Access various scientific search databases (e.g. web of science, beyond generic web-based search engines like google)
  3. Place literature into a bibliographic database (e.g. Zotero, Endnote, etc.)
  4. Maintain bibliographic database
  5. Provide updates of the bibliographic database to the Senior Scientist
  6. Search the bibliographic database
  7. Revise outlines collaboratively as provided by the Senior Scientist
  8. Develop manuscripts based on revised outlines provided by the Senior Scientist
  9. In collaboration with the Senior Scientist, write and co-edit text of key manuscripts
  10. Insert references into select manuscripts provided by the Senior Scientist
  11. Ensure logical considerations are maintained on the identified topics
  12. Peruse manuscripts provided by the Senior Scientist to ensure adequate referencing of topical statements.
  13. Develop manuscripts, book chapters, and reports in consultation with the Senior Scientist.
  14. Lead and develop international and workshops.
  15. Lead and develop theme sessions and other fora at various international and scientific meetings, conferences and symposia.
  16. Prepare and finalize submission materials for an array of manuscript products.
  17. Assist or lead in the reconciliation process for manuscripts that have been submitted and reviewed by publishers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum requirements are a PhD in the related scientific fields (marine, fisheries, ecosystems); with demonstrated experience in the publication process and having published manuscripts in the peer-reviewed literature.

Salary range is $50 - $60 per hour, dependent upon experience and anticipated hours worked.
