Senior R&D Scientist\n\nWest London, onsite\nPermanent\nx2 vacancies (x1 regular, x1 Senior)\nEng/ Scientist level is £45–55k | Senior level is £55k - £65k\n\nOur client is a well-backed clean tech start-up, operating at the forefront of clean hydrogen production. They're looking to expand their team, including the need for a Senior R&D Scientist.\n\nThe Role\n\nAs a Senior R&D Scientist, your work will span materials characterisation, electrode performance, corrosion resistance, and the design of next- cells and modules.\n\nKey responsibilities include:\n\nCharacterising and optimising metal electrodes for hydrogen/oxygen evolution reactions.\n\nInvestigating performance, durability, and corrosion resistance of materials.\n\nSupporting design, fabrication, and testing of electrolyser cells and modules.\n\nDesigning experiments, developing test protocols, and standardising processes.\n\nManaging consumables, reagents, and specialist lab equipment.\n\nEngaging with research partners, grant authorities, and project collaborators.\n\nAbout You\n\nWe’re looking for someone with strong foundations in materials science, chemistry, electrochemistry, or physics and a passion for solving tough problems in pursuit of a cleaner future.\n\nEssential:\n\n2+ years’ industrial experience in a relevant scientific/engineering field.\n\nPhD in chemistry, electrochemistry, materials science, or similar.\n\nStrong background in materials science (metals, alloys, oxides).\n\nExperience in corrosion chemistry, DFT modelling, or high-pressure/high-temp systems.\n\nHands-on experience with EIS data analysis and interpretation.\n\nStrong communication skills, able to present results to technical and non-technical stakeholders.\n\nProactive, motivated, and collaborative approach.\n\nDesirable:\n\nBackground in start-up or scale-up environments.\n\nWhat’s on Offer\n\nCompetitive salary (£45–65k) + equity scheme.\n\n25 days holiday + bank holidays.\n\n3 months’ full parental leave (mothers & fathers).\n\nPension: 5% employer / 3% employee.\n\nProfessional development support (training & fees).\n\nRegular team days, socials, and milestone celebrations.\n\nReferral bonuses
