Senior Quantity Surveyor - Infrastructure / Highways | Wolverhampton, West Midlands £60,000 to £73,000 + Package Hybrid working A leading infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team delivering a major transport and highways improvement programme across the West Midlands. This is a high-profile, multi-scheme programme focused on upgrading key transport routes and infrastructure, offering long-term stability, complex project exposure, and excellent career progression within a well-established contractor.As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take full commercial responsibility for multiple work packages within a fast-paced infrastructure environment. You'll work closely with operational teams and the client, ensuring robust cost control, contract compliance, and effective commercial delivery throughout the project lifecycle.A strong working knowledge of NEC contracts is essential, as you will play a key role in managing compensation events, change control, and contractual communications.Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial management of a multimillion £ transportation project in the West Midlands
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, cost plans, and financial forecasts
  • Carry out contract administration (NEC)
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, accounts, and final accounts
  • Assess, manage, and negotiate compensation events and variations
  • Oversee applications for payment and cash flow management
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and internal delivery teams
  • Support and mentor junior commercial team members
  • Drive value engineering and cost efficiency initiatives

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within infrastructure, highways, or civil engineering projects in the UK
  • Strong and demonstrable experience working with NEC contracts (essential)
  • Experience managing multiple work packages or schemes simultaneously
  • Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management expertise
