Job Description
Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering
Location: Swindon (Office-based)
Salary: Competitive + Package
We are working with a well-established civil engineering specialist who are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of key infrastructure projects and contribute to the continued success of a respected contractor. A strong civils background is essential, and experience in the water utilities sector is highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take full commercial responsibility for allocated projects, including monthly cost reporting
- Manage and mentor junior members of the commercial team
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and the supply chain, including managing standard rate agreements
- Prepare and submit accurate valuations, supported by regular site visits
- Follow up on payments and keep senior management informed of any issues
- Price and agree project variations with clients and subcontractors, maintaining clear records
- Prepare contractual notices and administer subcontract conditions in line with company procedures
- Ensure timely and fair resolution of final accounts with clients and subcontractors
- Maintain well-organised commercial files (electronic and hard copy)
- Support pre-construction activities alongside the bid and contracts teams
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in a civils environment
- Strong knowledge of commercial and contractual management principles
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Experience in the water utilities sector is desirable
- Ability to manage multiple projects and mentor junior team members effectively
