Senior Quantity Surveyor
£52,000-£65,000 + Car & Package | Manchester
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading main contractor delivering a key infrastructure project in Manchester. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be site based and quickly become an integral part of their commercial team in the region. The Senior Quantity Surveyor's first project will be a £10m civil engineering and building project in the North West that forms a key part of a wider fiver-year infrastructure framework valued at more than £500m.
Role Overview
The position requires a Senior Quantity Surveyor capable of taking full commercial ownership of a standalone package. The remit includes cost control, NEC4 contract management, subcontract management, and strategic commercial reporting. The role demands precision, pace, and confidence in managing live civil engineering delivery, particularly earthworks, drainage and structures packages.
Key Responsibilities
Lead commercial management of a £10m scheme from pre-construction through delivery
Administer and manage NEC4 Option A contracts
Produce accurate forecasting, cost reporting, and commercial risk assessments
Oversee subcontract procurement, negotiation, and performance management
Drive value engineering and cost-efficiency initiatives
Maintain strict contractual compliance and audit-ready documentation
Provide commercial leadership to project teams and mentor Quantity Surveyors
Report commercial performance to senior leadership with clear, data-driven insight
Requirements
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in the civil engineering or infrastructure sectors
Strong capability in NEC4 Option A administration
Track record managing budgets and subcontract delivery
Proficient in forecasting, cost reporting, and commercial controls
Confident communicator with negotiation and leadership competence
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or similar
