Job Description
An excellent freelance opportunity is available for a Senior Quantity Surveyor with strong experience overseeing the full commercial lifecycle of large-scale infrastructure projects. You may work independently or lead a small commercial team or alternatively report into a more senior commercial lead depending on project structure.\n\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\n\nManage and issue accurate, timely contractual notices and correspondence in line with project requirements.\n\t\nIdentify and communicate commercial risks and opportunities to the contract lead.\n\t\nPrepare and agree applications for payment and assess payment certificates.\n\t\nMaintain detailed records of variations, delays, extensions of time, and claims.\n\t\nEnsure consistent application of company commercial procedures and policies.\n\t\nSupport monthly valuations and claims for completed works.\n\t\nLiaise with client-side commercial and project teams.\n\t\nAssist with pre-contract negotiations and reporting.\n\t\nProduce monthly cost reports, forecasts, and updates for the contract lead.\n\t\nAdvise on value engineering and risk management strategies.\n\t\nManage procurement activities including supply chain enquiries, negotiations, and contract close-outs.\n\t\nImplement change control and cost management processes.\n\t\nMonitor and update procurement plans, including benchmarking.\n\t\nMaintain ongoing communication with site teams, supply chain, and client representatives.\n\t\nProvide contractual guidance to project and site teams as needed.\n\t\nStay informed on current construction contracts and their implications.\n\t\nEnsure health, safety, and environmental risks are escalated appropriately.\n\nESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE\n\nProven experience on major infrastructure projects within civil engineering, ideally under NEC4 contracts.\n\t\nStrong financial and commercial insight.\n\t\nMethodical and practical approach to work.\n\t\nSkilled in setting up and managing office systems including document control.\n\t\nExperienced in technical minute-taking and producing reports, certificates, and financial documentation.\n\t\nCapable of drafting clear contractual correspondence and promoting collaborative solutions.\n\t\nStrong negotiation and leadership skills.\n\t\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.\n\t\nSolid understanding of legal, contractual, and construction principles.\n\t\nConfident communicator with the ability to influence and lead.\n\t\nExperience in developing and executing procurement and contract strategies.\n\nQUALIFICATIONS\n\nDegree accredited by RICS or CICES.\n\nFull or near-complete RICS/CICES membership desirable\n\nIf you interested in this opportunity, then lodge your CV here now
