enior Quantity Surveyor - Planned Works
Leeds | £50,000 - £60,000 per annum + package
We're looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take commercial ownership of planned maintenance and refurbishment programmes across the region. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking contractor delivering high-quality works within social housing and public sector property portfolios.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll lead the commercial function on a range of planned works projects including kitchens, bathrooms, externals, roofing, compliance upgrades, void refurbishments, and retrofit/decarbonisation schemes.
You'll be responsible for driving financial performance, managing risk, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the commercial strategy for allocated frameworks and projects, ensuring accurate CVRs, forecasting, and margin control.
Manage contracts under NEC3/NEC4 or JCT, including change control, compensation events, and final accounts.
Oversee subcontract procurement, valuations, and applications for payment.
Build strong relationships with clients and internal teams, resolving commercial issues proactively.
Mentor and support Assistant QS and project staff, contributing to continuous improvement and best practice.
Requirements
5-8+ years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS, ideally with a main contractor or within social housing / planned maintenance.
Proven track record managing commercial performance across multi-site programmes or frameworks.
Strong knowledge of NEC and/or JCT forms of contract.
Confident in cost/value reconciliation, change control, and forecasting.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and reporting skills.
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent; MRICS or MCIOB is advantageous.
Advanced Excel skills; experience with finance or ERP systems (e.g., COINS, Causeway, Dynamics)
