Job Description
Role Purpose\nThe provision of a professional and cost-effective quantity surveying service both pre and post works contract across the Capital Delivery Team\n\nResponsibilitites\n\nReview and interrogate contractor quotations\nInterpret drawings and value measured works\nVisit sites to gain further understanding of the works and review contactor monthly payment applications\nSupport the development and implementation of technical specifications and contract documentation, ensuring that they reflect the relevant standards in accordance with contract management best practice.\nResponsible for the commercial evaluation of tenders. Contracts in the procurement pipeline are currently valued at approximately £4m.\nResponsible for commercial management of the contracts within the capital programme\nIdentify and suggest improvements to current ways of working in order to deliver a more efficient and effective service.\nUnderstand and work effectively within relevant Council policies and procedures in order to ensure the major project delivery is delivered on time, to budget and to the expected quality standard, and that professional support and advice is procured in an efficient and effective manner.\nReview contractor quotations in response to s20 notices\nEnsure the accurate reconciliation of project costs and the agreed final account to enable the recovery of leaseholder major works contributionsRequirements\n\nQuantity Surveying Degree or similar construction qualification\nKnowledge and understanding of the wide range of procurement methods within construction.\nCommercial skills – financial control, work in progress, pipeline, budgeting and reporting\nClear understanding of specifications, schedules of rates, design drawings and statutory documents.\nAbility to work effectively and efficiently either independently or as a member of a team.\nAbility to demonstrate a disciplined approach to time and workload management.\nA member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors with substantial post qualification building surveying experience.\nExperience of working in a large multi-functional organisation or business within either the public or private sector, in a development or construction related field.\nExperience of providing high levels of service and professional practice and achieving high level\nSignificant experience in the construction related project delivery of medium to large and complex projects to construct, refurbish, adapt, and maintain public sector estate
