The role & about the client:
We are recruiting on behalf of a Tier 1 contractor for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role in one of the most significant and complex construction projects in the sector. With the project to be based in Basingstoke.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Prepare and manage cost estimates, budgets and forecasts throughout project.
Monitor expenditure and provide cost advice
Prior to commencing on site, provide input, along with the rest of the commercial team, to the valuation master sheet by populating and formatting it to include all costs and variations.
Valuations to submit to the client at the end of the month.
Submit work in progress and accrued invoice figures to admin/ commercial team at the end of each month in accordance with the financial reporting procedure document.
Sign off invoices submitted by sub contractors
Acquaintance with the tender package and overview of projects
Attend handover meeting for the project from estimating/ sales to operations
Attend pre start meeting with the contracts manager, site manager and client
Gain a detailed understanding of the scope of works and sub contract packages
Quickly identify specialist items potentially on a long lead time. The ideal candidate
Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on complex, high-value projects
Strong negotiation and analytical skills
Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to relate complex information in a simple way to a diverse range of people
Strong numeracy and financial management skills
Commercial awareness
A clear understanding of HSE building regulations and all relevant legal requirements
Software knowledge in Outlook, Excel, Word, Sage, Eque 2, Project.
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, and risk effectively
Relevant qualifications in Senior Quantity Surveying
