Senior Quantity Surveyor

Senior Quantity Surveyor | Hertfordshire (Office Based) | Main Contractor



Join a long-established design & build contractor delivering technically complex commercial and residential schemes across London and the South East.



You'll take ownership of full project commercial management from early-stage budgets and procurement through to final accounts supporting a portfolio of live projects ranging in value from £2m to £10m.



This is a hands-on, standalone role working closely with the Construction Director and project teams, offering autonomy, visibility, and the opportunity to influence both project and business outcomes.



The Role

• Full commercial management of residential and self-storage projects (£210m)

• Prepare and manage construction budgets and allocate costs across work packages

• Procure subcontractors, plant, and materials, and assist in consultant procurement

• Agree main contract terms and subcontract agreements

• Manage client and subcontractor valuations, variations, and payments

• Monitor costs and produce monthly forecasts and cost reports

• Lead on final accounts for both client and subcontractors

• Provide commercial input on design development and value engineering

• Attend and contribute to design and pre-construction meetings

• Produce weekly commercial summaries for review with the Chief Executive

• Prepare build budgets and tenders for upcoming projects, including estimating input



What they're looking for

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor (main contractor or developer)

• Background in residential, commercial, or light industrial projects

• Strong understanding of procurement, cost control, and contract administration

• Confident managing multiple live projects and tight deadlines independently

• Commercially astute, technically capable, and comfortable reporting at director level
