Senior Quantity Surveyor

Vertical Recruitment is working in partnership with a respected infrastructure consultancy delivering a major highways upgrade in collaboration with Highways. This project plays a vital role in supporting large-scale housing growth and improving regional connectivity across the West Midlands.



An exciting opportunity now exists for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team in Birmingham or Stoke. This role is perfect for an experienced commercial professional looking to take the lead on nationally significant highways infrastructure where major transport meets residential development.



The Role



As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of the commercial and contractual management of highways schemes connected to a large-scale residential development. You’ll work closely with Highways, local authorities, developers, and contractors to ensure delivery is efficient, commercially sound, and of the highest standard.



Key Responsibilities



* Lead commercial management across highways infrastructure schemes



* Prepare and manage cost plans, budgets, valuations, and final accounts



* Oversee NEC3/4 contract administration, change control, and compensation events



* Support procurement, including tender preparation, evaluation, and negotiation



* Deliver detailed cost reporting, forecasting, and financial control



* Identify and manage commercial risks, claims, and opportunities



* Build strong working relationships with developers, contractors, and public sector clients



* Ensure compliance with Section 278/38 agreements, planning conditions, and funding requirements



What We’re Looking For



* Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline



* Significant post-degree experience in highways or major infrastructure projects



* Strong commercial and contractual management expertise, including NEC3/4



* Proven track record in cost management, procurement, and project controls



* Excellent communication and negotiation skills with multiple stakeholders



* Experience with Highways, developers, or public sector clients is highly desirable
