Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Based in Hemel Hempstead with travel to sites within a 1.5-hour radius

Salary: £65,000 – £75,000 (dependent on experience)

Industry: Civil Engineering & Groundworks (non-housebuilding)



We are seeking a skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established civil engineering and groundworks contractor. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience and will take ownership of the commercial management of multiple projects, supporting both site operations and wider business functions.



Key Responsibilities:

Lead the full commercial function across 3–4 concurrent civil engineering and groundworks projects

Manage change control, cost tracking, valuations, forecasting, and subcontractor measurements

Prepare and submit interim and final applications for payment



*



Assist with estimating and tendering activities as required



*



Contribute to company-wide commercial operations and strategic planning



*



Mentor and oversee the development of a Trainee Quantity Surveyor



*



Maintain accurate records and cost reports using Excel and relevant measurement tools (e.g., Bluebeam or similar software)



Requirements:

Minimum 7 years of experience in quantity surveying, with strong exposure to civil engineering and groundworks

Experience outside of typical housebuilding groundworks is



*



Strong working knowledge of Excel and digital measurement software (such as Bluebeam)



*



Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites within a 1.5-hour drive from Hemel Hempstead

Proven ability to manage multiple projects, work autonomously, and support junior team members
