Job Description

Overview

The Senior Quality Engineer leads quality assurance initiatives to ensure the company meets or exceeds all customer requirements for wholesale construction materials, hardware, plumbing, and heating equipment. This is a hands-on, collaborative position focused on compliance, continuous improvement, and speed-to-market, supporting New Product Development, customer, production, and supplier quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with New Product Development teams; actively participate and help oversee the Stage Gate process.
  • Ensure timely, complete execution and documentation of all quality actions, including adherence and gap closure in life cycle processes.
  • Drive flawless product launches and maintain compliance during serial production across supplier, distribution, and factory partners.
  • Respond to and lead resolution of customer quality issues in partnership with Customer Service, Production, Distribution, and Suppliers.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA), implement effective corrective actions, and follow up to closure.
  • Track, trend, and report on customer complaints, ensuring professional communication and global resolutions.
  • Liaison with all functions on quality assurance in NPD, sharing and standardizing best practices.
  • Lead or conduct PFMEAs and maintain corrective action boards (RCCA tracking).
  • Oversee Material Review Board (MRB) process; manage non-conforming materials and production error-proofing.
  • Implement layered audits; ensure ongoing production quality performance, and address process-based customer issues.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to suppliers and contribute to or lead improvement projects alongside the corporate supplier quality team.
  • Support audit activities (customer, agency, internal, etc.), site certifications, and ongoing audit readiness.
  • Advance quality tools—RCCA, PPAP, gage R&R, SPC, process controls, and quality system audits.
  • Maintain and update the corporate quality operating system: MOR analysis, data integrity, and strategic planning.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related business field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ quality engineering experience in manufacturing environments, including new product development.
  • Demonstrated application of total quality management concepts, advanced analytical/statistical techniques, and the use of quality systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering, Lean Six Sigma, and quality principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, statistical software, and AutoCAD or similar design software.
  • Strong organizational ability and attention to detail; effective communicator with all levels of customers and suppliers.
  • Knowledge of Metrology, Calibration, and quality reporting systems.

Qualifications

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
  • PMP certification.
  • Experience leading cross-functional quality initiatives.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • On-site, office-based with periodic manufacturing floor presence and PPE as required.
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods; occasional light lifting.
  • Effective communication and team engagement both on the floor and in meetings.
