Our client, a manufacturing organization within the food production sector, is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support capital and process improvement initiatives within a production environment. This role focuses on leading engineering projects from concept through execution, with an emphasis on optimizing production efficiency, reducing waste, and managing costs.
The position involves both independent work and leadership responsibilities, including oversight of medium to large-scale projects and coordination with cross-functional stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities

Develop engineering designs, material specifications, and project cost estimates

Conduct feasibility studies and technical research to support design decisions

Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards; validate field work and produce as-built drawings

Review engineering submissions for accuracy and compliance

Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and plant teams to maintain project schedules

Direct vendors and contractors on layout planning and utility requirements

Review third-party/consultant work and recommend improvements

Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and vendor records

Lead pre-project planning activities, define scope, prepare proposals, and evaluate bids

Provide regular project status updates to stakeholders

Support contract administration and oversee installations to ensure alignment with specifications, budgets, and timelines

Manage project budgets and ensure financial targets are achieved
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience

Strong project management and contract administration skills

Experience managing large-scale, multi-million-dollar projects

Proficiency in AutoCAD

Knowledge of installation and construction project scheduling

Familiarity with engineering codes and standards

Proficiency in engineering economics

Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%
Qualifications

Experience in food manufacturing environments, with exposure to protein or meat processing operations

Knowledge of engineering principles related to food processing systems
Compensation & Work Model
-
Base salary range: $100,000 – $130,000, plus bonus eligibility
-
Onsite role within a production facility environment
-
Travel requirement of approximately 50%
