Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced process-focused engineer to join a consultancy team delivering performance improvement projects for water treatment networks across the UK. This leadership-level position will give you the opportunity to influence operational strategies, reduce compliance risk, and shape low-impact infrastructure solutions through both conventional and digital approaches.
Key Responsibilities

Lead multidisciplinary teams in early-stage design and system optimisation studies.

Manage cost, schedule, and technical quality for assigned work packages.

Provide expert advice to clients and stakeholders on complex wastewater treatment challenges.

Develop technical solutions that minimise risk and enhance regulatory compliance.

Contribute to proposals and bids, supporting business development efforts.

Sign off on process modelling outputs, technical reports, and key deliverables.

Support skills development across the wider optimisation team.
Requirements

Proven experience in operating, designing, or improving municipal water or wastewater treatment systems.

Understanding of asset lifecycles from planning through operations.

Track record in delivering design or consultancy projects in the water sector.

Ability to work independently and provide technical leadership.

Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable

Knowledge of industry regulations and performance assessment frameworks.

Experience across all delivery phases from concept to handover.

Competence in producing technical documentation such as process schematics and mass balances.

Chartered status with a recognised professional body (e.g., CIWEM, IChemE).
