Senior Power Systems Engineer in Birmingham

If you’re an experienced Power Systems Engineer looking for a role where your technical expertise, leadership and ideas can make a real impact, this could be your next opportunity. We’re expanding our Manchester team and are looking for a Power Systems professional to take a leading role in delivering some of the UK’s most technically challenging and high-profile data centre, mission-critical, utilities and complex power infrastructure projects. This isn’t simply a design role. You’ll have the opportunity to lead technically, influence clients, mentor engineers and shape projects from concept through delivery — while helping build and grow a high-performing Power Systems capability. What you’ll be doing • Lead the design and delivery of complex power systems and substation projects • Undertake and review load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, arc-flash and transient studies • Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary engineering teams • Engage directly with clients and support proposals, bids and business development • Review designs and manage technical, programme, budget and quality risks • Mentor and develop engineers and contribute to technical excellence • Help shape engineering standards, innovation and the future direction of the Power Systems team What we’re looking for • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline • CEng or actively working towards chartership • Significant experience in power systems design, analysis and delivery across data centres, utilities, renewables or critical infrastructure • Strong knowledge of power system studies and electrical network design • Proven experience leading engineering teams and managing client relationships • Experience with ETAP, SKM, DIgSILENT PowerFactory or similar software Why consider the opportunity?
