Senior Portfolio Manager (SPM)
with Middough serves as a client account manager and is the primary point of contact for the client and outside consultants regarding the project(s). The SPM is responsible for the development and execution of a portfolio of projects (typically $1MM+), including profitability, quality, safety, client satisfaction, resource management, scope, schedule, budget, and contractual compliance. The SPM should have broad knowledge of engineering and construction models such as A/E, AEPCM, or Design Build. They provide leadership, instill confidence in clients, and demonstrate excellent communication skills, with a thorough understanding of planning, scheduling, contract administration, liability, and safety issues.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Support business and relationship development activities.
Create and maintain a client portfolio within the chemical/refining industry.
Act as the professional point of contact for client relationships.
Coordinate project scope completion across disciplines and locations.
Assist in preparing project execution strategies and review progress.
Monitor scope and schedule changes, securing necessary approvals.
Manage project financials, pricing, and cash flow.
Develop and review project management documents and communications.
Develop proposals, specifications, scopes, and negotiate contracts.
Monitor project costs and quality, correcting variances.
Implement cost-effective design solutions to reduce costs and improve productivity.
Identify key project issues, establish objectives, and implement solutions.
Prepare periodic reports on cost, schedule, and quality.
Issue invoices and follow up on payments.
Education, Experience and Skills
The successful candidate will possess:
An accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
Licensed Professional Engineer or PMP certification (desirable).
15-20+ years of project management experience in consulting, especially in chemical and refining industries.
5+ years of successful business development experience.
Knowledge of safety, contracts, and liability issues.
Ability to maintain relationships with clients and internal teams.
Broad knowledge of engineering and construction models.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong analytical skills.
Ability to multitask, organize, and communicate effectively.
Physical Requirements
While performing this position, the employee will:
Remain stationary or seated for long periods.
Walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and use repetitive motions.
Use vision and hearing abilities.
May be exposed to environmental conditions at client sites.
Occasionally travel by car or plane.
Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurance.
