Senior Platform Engineer

Manchester or London (Hybrid)

Up to £72,000 + Bonus – Permanent

Join a security programme at the heart of the UK’s critical infrastructure. We’re growing our Platform Engineering capability to deliver cutting-edge solutions that make a real difference. You’ll be part of a collaborative consulting-style environment, working alongside specialists and generalists, designing and building systems that keep the country safe.

What you’ll be doing

• Designing and delivering production-grade and proof-of-concept systems for high-impact projects
• Building modern, secure, and scalable solutions using the latest tooling and engineering practices
• Embedding quality through automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and code analysis tools
• Working in agile, multidisciplinary teams to solve complex client challenges
• Supporting a culture of innovation and knowledge-sharing, with opportunities to mentor and get involved in wider tech and cyber skills initiatives

Experience required

• Strong background in software engineering with one or more (Java, JavaScript, .Net, Python)
• Hands-on experience with version control (Git, Mercurial, etc.) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Bamboo, TeamCity, Bitbucket)
• Proven track record delivering in agile environments (Scrum, Kanban, Lean)
• Understanding of software design patterns and engineering best practices
• Current SC clearance is a bonus – otherwise, you must be eligible

• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
• Containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Database systems (SQL, NoSQL, Graph)
• Configuration & deployment tools (Ansible)
