Senior Optical Engineer - Quantum Computing


We are currently partnered with a cutting edge Quantum Computing start up in Germany working at the forefront of industrial research for Quantum Technology innovation. The team are looking to expand their headcount with a Senior Optical Engineer to play a key role in shaping the optical backbone of next- quantum processors.


This position is based onsite in Munich, Germany.


Key Responsibilities for this Senior Optical Engineer position:

  • Design, build, and align complex optical and optomechanical systems.
  • Optimize optical setups for performance, manufacturability, and stability.
  • Collaborate on custom optical components and integrated systems.
  • Automate and monitor optical subsystems, troubleshoot, and refine designs.


Key Requirements:

  • Master’s or PhD in Optical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • 5–8+ years experience designing optical and optomechanical systems.
  • Hands-on assembly and alignment experience.
  • Skilled with CAD tools (Zemax, SolidWorks).
  • Strong knowledge of lasers, modulators, high-NA systems.
