Senior Operations Analyst

The Senior Operations Analyst will provide high-level operational and analytical expertise to support Navy Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) and Surface Warfare Training Detachment (SWTD) missions. This role requires deep knowledge of Aegis combat systems, C5I, and surface Navy operations to respond to Fleet and Combatant Command Requests for Information and Analysis. The specialist will monitor Fleet readiness, conduct post-mission assessments, and apply operations research methodologies to enhance warfighting capabilities. The position also supports the development and review of tactical guidance, publications, and operational doctrine, ensuring Navy forces remain prepared to counter evolving threats.


Your duties will consist, but are not limited to:

  • Provide analytic support for Fleet operational reach-back requirements, answering RFIs/RFAs for COCOMs, NFCs, CSG/ESG staffs, and others.
  • Evaluate and contribute to RFI/RFA reviews, coordinating with NAVSEA, JHU/APL, NAWDC, and other technical/operational orgs.
  • Augment SMWDC reach-back cells when 24/7 combat ops support is required.
  • Monitor Fleet operations: employment schedules, tasking, readiness levels, casualty reports.
  • Apply Operations Research methodologies to assess mission areas (Air Warfare, BMD, MIW, SUW).
  • Track day-to-day Fleet operations, including CASREPS and deployment schedules.
  • Support tactical and operational guidance development, including: Reviewing/updating TACMEMOs, OPTASKs, Battle Orders, Tactical Pubs, FAMs. Supporting updates to Joint Pubs (JPs), Navy Warfare Pubs (NWPs), and NTTPs.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must possess and maintain a current SECRET clearance and be eligible for TS/SCI
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications:
Applicants must demonstrate the following qualifications to qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following:

  • Tactical-level qualifications: Tactical Action Officer (TAO), Air Warfare Coordinator (AAWC), or Battle Watch Captain.
  • Possession of a Tactical Action Officer Qualification letter or BMD Watch Officer qualification letter.
  • Demonstrated expertise in qualitative and quantitative assessment methods for readiness, capabilities, and capacity evaluations.
  • Experience in post-weapons firing mission analysis of Aegis Weapon Systems.

Desired

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to support publication and guidance development.
  • Strong background in Aegis Combat System employment and readiness analysis.
  • Ability to work across joint and Navy communities (COCOMs, Fleet, NAVSEA, NAWDC).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for tactical publications and reporting.
  • Capable of working in high-tempo, operationally driven environments.

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Operations Research, Systems Engineering, Defense Studies, or related field).
  • Equivalent military training and operational qualifications accepted in lieu of degree.

Experience:

  • Familiarity with Agile team management tools such as JIRA.
  • Advanced proficiency with data analysis/visualization tools (Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Tableau etc).

Education:

  • Master’s Degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or in a training-analysis related discipline, OR 10+ years of recent, relevant experience in electronic training systems, training evaluation, training data analysis, and root-cause analysis.

How You Will Be Evaluated

You will be evaluated based on your level of knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience in the following areas:

  • Technical writing and editing for defense-related publications.
  • Knowledge of Navy and Joint doctrine, TTPs, and publication processes.
  • Proficiency in Adobe design and editing tools.
  • Ability to synthesize complex tactical/technical information into clear, concise publications.
  • Experience coordinating with SMEs and Warfare Tactics Instructors.
