THIS IS NOT A SOFTWARE ROLE. THIS IS HANDS ON SENIOR LEVEL MECHANICAL ENGINEERING AT A MANUFACTURING PLANT.

Kelaca is looking for a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer (Contract) for our client partner in Pasco, WA. This is a 3-6 month contract with possibility of extension and maybe even conversion. We are looking to find a mechanically savvy mechanical engineer to support the operational reliability of a newly commissioned industrial water treatment and renewable energy facility. This role is focused on evaluating and improving mechanical equipment performance by tracking uptime, conducting root cause analyses, and coordinating corrective actions. It requires a hands-on, results-driven professional who can blend technical troubleshooting, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and track equipment performance using Excel and SCADA system data
  • Conduct structured root cause analysis (e.g., 5 Whys) on mechanical failures or anomalies
  • Recommend and implement both short-term fixes and long-term improvements to enhance equipment reliability
  • Coordinate with equipment manufacturers, plant operations, and engineering leadership to resolve issues
  • Lead and document findings from equipment failure investigations
  • Maintain performance tracking logs and generate weekly reports
  • Participate in daily operational meetings and provide technical insight into ongoing equipment challenges

Skills and Experience:

  • 3–5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, reliability engineering, or a related field
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical equipment (e.g., pumps, valves, chains, lubrication systems)
  • Proficiency in Excel and ability to manage performance tracking data
  • Experience with root cause analysis techniques and maintenance best practices
  • Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to a range of stakeholders
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a small plant team

Experience:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems and performance data analysis
  • Background in industrial water treatment, manufacturing, or process equipment environments

Work Environment:

  • Combination of desk work and on-site equipment assessment
  • Daily interaction with plant operators, contractors, and internal engineering team
  • Lean, agile team environment with a focus on rapid issue resolution and continuous improvement



Job Type: Full-time contract

Hours of Work: Monday-Friday

FLSA Exemption Status: Non-Exempt
