Responsibilities
- Lead a team of mechanical engineers responsible for primary and secondary structures and mechanisms.
- Coordinate day-to-day engineering activities, priorities, and schedules across the team.
- Establish and maintain engineering tools, processes, and best practices.
- Review and approve technical deliverables, including CAD models, engineering drawings, analyses, and test reports.
- Develop mechanical designs, perform engineering analyses, and create test plans to verify system performance.
- Execute and oversee testing, analyze results, and document findings.
- Manage suppliers and vendors to procure components while meeting quality, cost, and schedule objectives.
- Present technical and programmatic status to internal and external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Experience designing structural components, mechanisms, and mechanical assemblies.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability (DFM).
- Proficiency with CAD software, product lifecycle management (PLM) tools, and finite element analysis (FEA).
- Experience designing and analyzing hardware for harsh environments, including vibration, shock, and acoustic loading.
- Self-motivated and able to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
- M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Experience leading engineering projects and mentoring or managing technical teams.
- Experience developing hardware for aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicles.
- Demonstrated experience leading products from concept through design, manufacturing, integration, testing, and qualification.
- Expert-level knowledge in one or more of the following disciplines: mechanical design, structural analysis, or testing.
