Job Description
A great opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer has arisen to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in managing mechanical design projects and mentoring a growing team within a leading engineering company.\n\nJob Description:\n\nMentor and assist with the development of the mechanical team.\nManage the day-to-day workload of the Mechanical Department alongside the Lead Mechanical Engineer.\nOversee design processes including drawings and bills of materials (BOM).\nEnsure all designs comply with BS/IEC standards and customer specifications.\nSelect and establish component parts to meet electrical and mechanical design requirements.\nPrepare working designs for projects, including prototype construction and testing.\nCollaborate with transformer design teams and customers internally and externally.\nDrive research and development of new products and continuous improvement of existing ones.\nProvide technical advice at contract start-up stage and prepare written technical specifications.\nIssue designs to client specifications.\nLiaise on resource allocation and departmental targets.\nDevelop and maintain component libraries.\nDeliver job/system and workflow process training.Beneficial Skills / Knowledge:\n\nDegree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.\nStrong knowledge of BS/IEC standards and mechanical design principles.\nProficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).\nExperience in BOM creation and component selection.\nExcellent problem-solving and analytical skills.\nAbility to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.\nStrong communication and leadership skills for mentoring and team development.\nExperience in power solutions industry.\nKnowledge of design principles.\nFamiliarity with R&D processes and prototype testing.\nActively studying, or recently qualified, AAT / ACCA / CIMA (or equivalent)\nExposure to Sage 200\nExperience preparing management accounts\nExposure to credit control processes \n\nAdditional Details:\n\nNegotiable Salary\nStudy support (if applicable)\n25 days holiday per year plus 8 bank holidays\nDiscretionary Profit Share scheme (paid quarterly)\nPension scheme\n3 x salary death in service\nHealthcare cash plan scheme and employee assistance programme\nHybrid working options (after probation)\nCareer progression within a supportive team
