Senior Mechanical Engineer – Capital Projects & Process Improvement
West Chicago, IL | $110,000–$130,000 | ✈️ Up to 25% Travel

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience in process or chemical manufacturing environments. This is a critical, long-term role supporting facility improvements, capital projects, and advanced troubleshooting of production systems.

The ideal candidate is a problem-solver who thrives in both hands-on technical troubleshooting and strategic project management—someone who can design, budget, and deliver impactful engineering solutions while mentoring and training others on best practices.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and manage capital projects, including equipment installation, upgrades, and ROI analysis.

• Troubleshoot and optimize mechanical, motion, and hydraulic systems across multiple facilities.

• Develop and modify processes, equipment designs, and work instructions to improve performance and reliability.

• Support maintenance teams with complex troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

• Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide technical training as needed.

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years of mechanical engineering in chemical, food & beverage, packaging, or process manufacturing.

• Strong background in troubleshooting hydraulics, motion systems, and mechanical processes.

• Proven track record leading capital projects (budgets, schedules, ROI).

• Proficient with AutoCAD (mechanical/electrical/architectural drawings).

• Knowledge of instrumentation devices and basic PLC troubleshooting.

• Strong problem-solving, communication, and project leadership skills.

Bonus Points For

• Six Sigma Black Belt or other continuous improvement certifications.

• Experience in printing, packaging, coatings, or ink-related industries.

• Hands-on exposure to food & beverage or chemical manufacturing processes.
