Senior Mechanical Engineer
Initial 6 Month Contract
2 days per week on site in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria (3 days working from home)
£59.33 Per Hour (Umbrella Rate - Inside IR35)
The Role
Develop designs in line with requirements and all quality and technical standards.
Perform technical investigations, including evaluation of technical options, supporting calculations and preparation of reports with recommendations.
Participate in internal and external meetings or design reviews.
Definition and control of interfaces via interface control drawings and space envelopes.
Ensuring that the product will operate safely and reliably in the military operating environment and can be manufactured cost effectively.
Preparing 3D models, 2D drawings, and other technical outputs, consistent with the contractual requirements to meet target dates and budget demands.
Support quality related to production NCR's (non-conformance reports) and first article inspection.
Interface with related supporting functions such as Procurement and Quality.
The Candidate
Working experience using CAD software (ideally PTC Creo Parametrics)
Previous production, manufacturing and assembly experience
Familiarity with engineering drawing standards and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
Working knowledge of technical office processes, standards and standard instructions (i.e. Business Management System (BMS) and the Life Cycle Model (LCM))
Analytical and problem solving skills
