Job Description:

Reporting to the Senior Director for Industrial Design, the Senior Mechanical Engineer drives new product development and production initiatives for kitchen and cleaning products. Bringing expertise in mechanical engineering and a passion for consumer goods, the Senior Mechanical Engineer plays a vital role in ensuring product innovation, quality, and functionality. Responsibilities include defining engineering excellence, manufacturing details, conducting stress analyses, and participating in Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) efforts.

Duties:

  • Provide engineering, manufacturing, and technical feasibility solutions for new product development and production efforts.
  • Use CAD software for material stress analysis to predict breaking points and material contraction.
  • Use CAD software and other engineering tools to create detailed product designs, 3D models, prototypes, and technical drawings (BOMs).
  • Develop Bill Of Materials with tolerances for new products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and engineer kitchen and cleaning products, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company guidelines.
  • Coordinate with Industrial Designers to facilitate engineering and industrial production.
  • Communicate with Category Managers regarding Product Engineering and Production.
  • Create and update department technical procedures and standards.
  • Assist suppliers with engineering processes for new product production.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost analysis for new product concepts.
  • Monitor and evaluate product performance, implementing improvements.
  • Assist in communication with Product Management and Procurement for new items.
  • Stay updated on advancements in materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in VAVE efforts for new and existing items.
  • Manage product production using tools such as Centric and Jira.
  • Attend trade shows as needed.
  • Maintain the company's 2D and 3D Product Designs database.
  • Provide technical support to internal teams.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field (Advanced degree preferred).
  • Proven experience as a Product Industrial Engineer, preferably in the consumer goods industry.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in CAD 2D and 3D software.
  • Strong engineering knowledge in CAD Stress Analysis (Plastics and Metal).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Materials and manufacturing processes knowledge.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Familiarity with industry standards for kitchen and cleaning products.
  • Good verbal/written communication skills.
  • Proactive project ownership and team organization.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on quality and reliability.
  • Team player.
