With one AirWing™ already in operation and more in development, it's an exciting time to join the team.\n\nJob Description of Senior Mechanical/Design Engineer\nTo contribute to ongoing activities within the AirWing™ programme.
The role spans concept development through to the creation of detailed manufacturing drawings and requires a broad, adaptable skill set suited to a fast-moving engineering environment.\n\nReporting to the Head of Engineering, you will work where creativity meets precision, ensuring designs are elegant, robust, and production-ready.\n\nResponsibilities of Senior Mechanical/Design Engineer\n* Lead the mechanical and structural design of AirWing™ subsystems from concept through to manufacturing release.\n* Produce 3D models, detailed drawings, and supporting calculations, using sound analytical judgement and FEA where required.\n* Oversee design validation, documentation, and integration with performance, systems, and manufacturing teams.\n* Champion safe-by-design and design-for-manufacture principles, promoting continuous improvement and lifecycle sustainability.\n* Mentor junior engineers, review their work, and communicate technical outcomes clearly to internal and external stakeholders.\n* Uphold professional standards of engineering integrity, safety, and sustainability.\n\nExperience / Knowledge of Senior Mechanical/Design Engineer\n\nRequired:\n* Degree-qualified in Mechanical, Structural, or Marine Engineering.\n* Minimum 3 years' experience in mechanical or design engineering of complex systems.\n* Proven ability to deliver designs from concept to production in marine or offshore environments.\n* Experience with heavy machinery and steel structures.\n* Strong design-for-manufacture skills and drawing creation.\n* Experience working within a design and manufacturing environment.\n\nDesirable Senior Mechanical/Design Engineer\n* Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor (or similar 3D CAD software).\n* Experience with class or certification requirements (e.g., DNV, LR).\n* Understanding of control systems and actuation.\n* Structural analysis skills.\n* Experience designing large structures.\n* Knowledge of structural testing, validation, and manufacturing techniques.\n* Experience in actuation systems design
