Our client is a trailblazer in next- marine engineering — delivering radical, efficient propulsion and hydrodynamic solutions that are transforming the global shipping industry.\n\nDriven by a mission to decarbonise maritime transport, this is not your average design engineering role. Here, you’ll work on revolutionary technologies that are already making waves — from advanced wing propulsion systems and foiling vessels to flight control and energy optimisation tech that significantly reduces fuel use across commercial fleets.\n\nWhat You'll Be Doing:\n\n As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll be a critical part of a fast-paced, highly skilled development team. You’ll own the mechanical systems across game-changing projects — from concept to manufacture — and bring visionary ideas to life.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nCollaborate within a multidisciplinary team to develop mechanical concepts through to full production, ensuring quality, performance, and cost targets are met.\nWork across a wide range of projects — from large, fabricated composite structures for series production to one-off, high-performance prototype vessels.\nLead smaller projects or play a key role within larger programmes, taking responsibility for core mechanical deliverables.\nOwn the mechanical design lifecycle — producing robust components and systems in line with company processes and industry standards.\nApply sound engineering judgement with detailed design calculations and classical hand calcs.\nContribute to continuous improvement of design methodology and digital toolsets.\nSupport concept and feasibility studies during pre-contract phases.\nGuide and mentor junior engineers, fostering technical growth within the team.\nLiaise with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and clients to ensure alignment and excellence in delivery.\nGet hands-on with physical builds, testing and validation — bringing your ideas into the real world.\nSupport business development through proposal input and technical scoping.\nMaintain oversight of multiple concurrent projects with clear tracking of risks, priorities, and delivery status.\nInput into DFMEA creation and engage in full product validation cycles.\nOversee external resources and contractors, as needed, in collaboration with your line manager. \n\n What We're Looking For:\n\nA degree in mechanical, aerospace, automotive, or marine engineering.\nStrong CAD proficiency — ideally Siemens NX — with a deep understanding of design for manufacture (DFM) and GD&T.\nExpert knowledge of mechanical principles, with experience in detailed design and calculation of metallic and composite parts.\nFamiliarity with material properties, welding, bonding, and mechanical fixing techniques.\nExperience in FEA analysis to inform and validate designs.\nConfidence in managing complexity, juggling priorities, and leading technical workstreams.\nPassion for engineering excellence and precision, with a mindset of continuous improvement.\nComfortable in a workshop and build environment — practical experience is a plus.\nA proactive mentor and collaborative team player, capable of developing others as well as delivering your own work to high standards. \n\n Why Join Us?\n\n You’ll be part of a passionate and talented team working at the forefront of clean technology for marine and shipping applications.

This is a place where your ideas matter, your designs get built, and your career can accelerate.\n\nWhat’s on Offer:\n\nA rare opportunity to directly influence the decarbonisation of global transport.\nA collaborative, agile work environment where innovation thrives.\nAccess to cutting-edge projects and career-defining challenges.\nCompetitive salary and excellent benefits package, including:\n25 days holiday\nCompany pension\nPrivate medical insurance\nLife assurance\nElectric car scheme\nCycle to work scheme\nRegular social events and a supportive team culture \n\n If you're ready to engineer the future of marine technology, we’d love to hear from you!
