Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Infrastructure Projects

Location: East Midlands

Salary: Circa £50k + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

With a significant pipeline of projects focused on improving treatment facilities, infrastructure resilience, and environmental performance, they're expanding their in-house engineering capabilities and seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join the growing design team.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll be involved in the full lifecycle of design across a broad range of infrastructure and treatment projects. You’ll work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver mechanical engineering solutions that are efficient, sustainable, and aligned with regulatory and operational standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing mechanical designs from initial concept through to detailed design
• Ensuring designs meet performance, safety, and environmental requirements
• Supporting project delivery teams with technical input across planning and execution stages
• Mentoring and developing junior engineers within the discipline
• Driving innovation and continuous improvement across mechanical design standards
• Collaborating with internal stakeholders and delivery partners to ensure successful outcomes

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for a forward-thinking, practical engineer with a collaborative mindset and a strong foundation in mechanical design. You’ll also bring:

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Chartered status or working towards (e.g., IMechE)
• Demonstrable experience in the design of infrastructure or treatment assets (e.g., pumping stations, process plant)
• Knowledge of mechanical design tools and relevant industry standards
• The ability to manage multiple projects and deliver to tight deadlines
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach and excellent communication skills
