Job Role: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer\nSalary / Rate: £50-£60 /hour \nLocation: Reading (UK wide considered)\n\nOur client is a reputable consultancy looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support the Engineering and Design Services team on the Thames Water Framework.\n\nThe role will contribute to solution development, need identification, definition and validation, and the identification of operational and delivery efficiencies. The successful candidate will also provide technical support for strategic planning, price reviews, and interactions with regulators and key external stakeholders.\n\nAbout the Role:\n\nComplete the design of complex mechanical processes for water and wastewater treatment.\nSupport and coordinate multidisciplinary teams in resolving engineering challenges on operational plant assets.\nUndertake root cause analysis of equipment failures to reduce future occurrences.\nProvide technical input into project definition briefs, feasibility studies, and optioneering.\nContribute to asset surveys, condition assessments, whole-life costing, and preliminary designs.\nDeliver technical assurance and sign-off throughout project delivery, including handover and commissioning.\nEnsure compliance with engineering-based regulatory requirements.\nProvide expert advice on best practice for scope of works to Thames Water.\nIf required, manage and be accountable for a delivery team, including preparing outputs for sign-off. \n\nAbout You:\n\nDegree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering.\nChartered Status or equivalent (if relevant) and membership of the relevant institution.\nMinimum 6 years post-graduate experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 3 years in the water industry on relevant projects.\nDemonstrable ability to operate at a senior level:\nAble to take on significant elements of the required activity personally, with minimal supervision.\nProvide expert technical guidance and leadership.\nCapable of managing delivery teams and ensuring quality outputs \n\nReach out to Charlie Knight @ Advance TRS to find out more about this exciting opportunity and take the next step in your career.
