Senior Marine Engineering Officer
Contract Role | £39.24/hr via Umbrella
Location: London
Are you a qualified Marine Engineer ready to take on a hands-on leadership role
We’re looking for a Senior Marine Engineering Officer to provide first-line technical support for river vessels and terminal assets, ensuring safe and efficient operations across London’s waterways.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead and support a team of Assistant Engineering Officers (AEOs)
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues in vessel propulsion, automation, and control systems
- Oversee planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring compliance with marine safety standards
- Liaise with internal teams and external contractors to deliver engineering works
- Support dry dock preparations and supervise major engineering projects
Essential
- EOOW Certificate of Competence (STCW III/1) or higher (MCA or equivalent)
- HND in Marine or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and technical reporting skills
- Experience with diesel-electric propulsion systems and hybrid power
- Familiarity with marine safety management systems and planned maintenance software
