Collins Aerospace has an opportunity for an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Chemical Processing who can creatively apply engineering knowledge to solve complex manufacturing problems, optimizing production, and reducing costs.
Our ideal candidate will be a curious self-starter with excellent teaming, communication, and relationship building abilities. You will also have a passion for LEAN principles and processes and be eager to contribute to improved efficiency and productivity using their LEAN toolkit.
You will support products in our Air Dat value stream. Specifically, this role will primarily support the chemical processes within the manufacturing of those sensors. Innate leadership and a desire to grow and mentor will be differentiators for this role. You should be quick to collaborate and bring other people into your work early. Additionally, you should be quick to get involved in the work that the other team members are doing and help support and mentor them.
What You Will Do
Be the primary resource for process knowledge and expertise in the chemical process steps on the manufacturing line.
Design and modify small cell or simple assembly lines within plant facilities to ensure the most efficient and productive layout.
Design the sequence of larger and more complex operations and specify procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other processes, including disassembly/assembly and repairs, to ensure efficiency and optimize performance.
Design and implement complex manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control to ensure compliance and effective production.
Monitor and ensure mandatory modifications, programs, and bulletins are incorporated or complied with, as required by the customer and the applicable regulatory requirements, to ensure legal compliance and adherence to quality standards.
Identify opportunities and implement changes, on a need basis, to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts to optimize productivity and ensure optimal use of resources.
Audit manufacturability of existing products, and recommend modifications or adaptations to address quality, customer, product, or productivity constraints.
Qualifications/Experience Required:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
4+ years' manufacturing experience.
4+ years' experience in chemical manufacturing, plating, or chemical processing.
Qualifications/Experience :
Proficiency in SAP.
Ability to remain focused under pressure to assess and resolve manufacturing challenges.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve operational goals.
Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Experience using analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively identify and resolve issues and mitigate risks.
Proven ability to facilitate difficult conversations and communicate early, and concisely with individuals at all organizational levels.
