Senior Machine Learning Engineer (San Francisco - Hybrid)

A well-funded AI startup is looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to help build the next of interactive AI experiences. You'll develop cutting-edge AI systems that power intelligent, real-time 3D characters, shaping how people interact with AI across gaming, entertainment and consumer applications.

What Will I Be Doing?

• Design and build production-ready AI systems powered by LLMs, RAG, prompt engineering and multi-agent architectures.
• Develop scalable backend services that power intelligent, real-time AI experiences.
• Collaborate with product and research teams to take cutting-edge AI concepts from research into production.
• Evaluate, optimise and improve AI performance through experimentation, benchmarking and model fine-tuning.
• Drive best practices across AI quality, safety, scalability and cost optimisation.

What We're Looking For:

• 5+ years' experience building production machine learning or AI products.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, agentic AI systems, RAG or related AI technologies.
• Strong backend engineering skills with Python (Go or JavaScript also considered).
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-ownership startup environment with a strong product mindset.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning or a related field (Master's or PhD is a plus).
