ROLE

Usio is seeking a talented Senior Lead Engineer, passionate about leading and mentoring developers

to maximize their potential and ensuring continuous and efficient improvements to our Card Issuing

products. This position is onsite, non-remote.

EXPECTATIONS

As a Senior Lead Engineer, you’ll mentor and guide engineers and help ensure software development

progresses forward efficiently and at a predicable cadence. You’ll architect new solutions, identify

and resolve development bottlenecks and work to refine our processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of backend services and APIs using Go, MySQL,

and MSSQL.

• Ensure the SDLC follows industry best practices, with an emphasis on security, compliance,

and auditability.

• Architect and optimize solutions on Azure, leveraging cloud services for scalability,

resilience, and cost efficiency.

• Collaborate on CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment speed, reliability, and quality.

• Collaborate with infrastructure, compliance, and product teams to ensure regulatory

requirements (e.g., PCI DSS, SOC 2) are consistently met.

• Establish and enforce engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, and

observability.

• Mentor and guide engineers, fostering technical growth and promoting a culture of

accountability and excellence.

• Collaborate with scrum master and stakeholders on product roadmaps.

• Evaluate new technologies, and make architectural decisions aligned with business goals.

EXPERIENCE

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership

or senior role.

• Proven expertise with Go (Golang), MySQL, and Microsoft SQL Server in production

environments.

• Understanding of frontend engineering (React, TypeScript) to be able to analyze code and

make informed full-stack architectural decisions.

• Strong background in secure software development lifecycle (SDLC), including code

reviews, threat modeling, and compliance with financial industry standards (e.g., PCI DSS,

SOC 2).

• Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services, including architecture, deployment,

monitoring, and cost optimization.

• Demonstrated success implementing CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or

similar).

• Solid understanding of cloud security principles, and access management, and

regulatory compliance in financial services.

• Experience mentoring engineers, leading cross-functional initiatives, and driving engineering

best practices across teams.
