Senior IT Systems Engineer

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining IT systems to meet business needs. This position will be working with cloud computing platforms, virtualization technologies, scripting , and many other backend systems; and will be responsible for developing and supporting solutions for end users (related to all end user technologies). This position will collaborate with cross-functional teams, implement security measures, and provide guidance to junior engineers, as well as provide backup resources to the IT service desk as needed. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, develop, and implement IT systems and solutions to meet organizational needs.

• Perform system integration, testing, and validation to ensure optimal performance.

• Monitor and maintain system performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to hardware, software, and network systems.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and specifications.

• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.

• Implement security measures and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

• Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and other team members.

• Provide backup support to IT Help Desk team as needed.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or 5 years of work experience in Information Technology (IT) or Information Systems (IS).

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering or related field.

• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, or CISSP are .

• Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS or Azure is .

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Familiarity with virtualization technologies like VMware or Hyper-V.

• Knowledge of scripting .

• Understanding of DevOps practices and tools.

• Proficiency in systems design, development, and maintenance.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Experience with system integration and performance tuning.

• Knowledge of security protocols and compliance requirements.

• Demonstrated propensity to be creative, collaborative, proactive, and self-motivated in the execution and completion of assigned accountabilities.

• Ability to work independently, as an effective team member and with all levels of the organization.
