Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Project Engineer/Manager for our San Francisco, CA or Concord, CA office. Candidate will lead I&C system engineering services and designs for the water and wastewater industry. This will managing include both in-plant and remote telemetry (SCADA) projects with the potential for HMI/PLC programming/configuration work.

This opportunity is to be the first I&C employee in Northern California, with the potential to help recruit and mentor additional Northern California I&C staff in the near-term future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), control system network diagrams, control panel wiring diagrams, equipment layouts, and installation details.
- Supervision and mentorship of less experienced staff
- Site visits, client workshops and managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Coordinating with the other disciplines (process/mechanical, structural, architectural, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and site civil).
- Performing quality reviews of BIM models, Revit families, and CAD based files used in the production of contract documents.
- Inspect, witness equipment testing, and approve of I&C work provided by contractors at water and wastewater facilities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- 12+ years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of industrial process instrumentation, equipment, and controls.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, or AutoCAD Plant 3D
- Strong verbal, writing and interpersonal skills are essential for coordination with other disciplines, and client interface.
- PE License or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of water/wastewater process instrumentation, equipment, and controls.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers, designers, and other staff.
- PLC/HMI configuration/programming experience
- Electrical design experience
- Experience communicating and coordinating with clients, particularly W/WW clients.
