Job Title: Senior HVAC Engineer



Contract Type: Contract (Outside IR35)

Location: Open to remote working with occasional visitis to Warrington/AWE

Duration: 6 Months



Purpose of the Role



The Senior HVAC Engineer is responsible for defining, managing, and delivering HVAC engineering work to ensure projects are executed safely, on time, and to the required standards. This role focuses on delivering HVAC design and substantiation for nuclear sector projects, ensuring full compliance with relevant technical, safety, and regulatory requirements.



Reporting To:



Principal Engineer or Head of Discipline



Key Accountabilities



Develop HVAC system designs and supporting documentation in accordance with project specifications

Deliver high-quality design outputs throughout all phases of the engineering lifecycle

Review and approve discipline-specific engineering deliverables

Contribute to design and safety reviews as required

Ensure full compliance with safety legislation, industry codes, and statutory regulations

Provide technically sound and cost-effective HVAC engineering solutions

Manage contractors and external interfaces

Support site surveys, installation, and commissioning activities

Support staff development and mentoring within the HVAC design team

Foster a strong safety culture across all engineering activities



Essential Requirements



Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience

Working toward or already hold Chartered Engineer status

Strong understanding of HVAC system fundamentals, especially in high-integrity environments

Proven experience delivering HVAC design solutions within the nuclear industry

Good knowledge of nuclear safety case requirements

Understanding of relevant safety legislation and regulatory requirements

Experience in containment and process ventilation systems

Skilled in design and engineering substantiation

Demonstrable experience leading design teams and managing subcontractors

Experience in preparing technical input for bids and proposals

Strong organisational, interpersonal, and commercial awareness



Desirable



Chartered Engineer (CEng) and full membership of a relevant professional institution

Experience using IESVE or other HVAC simulation software

Full UK Driving Licence



Must have SC to be considered. please only apply if you have current SC in place as this is required to be considered.
