The Role
We are seeking a Senior HVAC Controls Engineer to join our Manufacturing team. In this role, you'll be responsible for the factory commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of our HVAC systems before they are deployed to customers. This is a key role that directly impacts our product quality, customer satisfaction, and our ability to scale as a company.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in HVAC systems, controls, and automation, with a passion for problem-solving and hands-on work in a manufacturing setting. You will be expected to bring both your mechanical and electrical expertise to ensure seamless integration and operation of our systems.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Required certifications: Niagara 4, Universal EPA.
Minimum 5-7 years of hands-on experience with commercial HVAC systems.
At least 3 years of recent, demonstrable experience in controls systems (BAS, BMS, DDC, VAV).
Proven experience troubleshooting HVAC electrical and mechanical systems.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
Qualifications:
Additional certifications or technical training in HVAC systems or controls .
Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, air psychometrics, HVAC electrical systems, and controls.
Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, P&ID diagrams, and wiring schematics.
Experience with PLC-based embedded controllers (e.g., Distech, LabView, etc.) and communication protocols such as Modbus RTU (RS485).
Familiarity with sensor and actuator systems (e.g., pumps, blowers, dampers, temperature/relative humidity sensors).
Knowledge of ISO 9001 and UL specifications.
ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar certification.
Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
Familiarity with CAD or SolidWorks is a plus.
Location & Travel:
Location: Boca Raton, FL (near the Boca Raton Tri-Rail Station).
Travel Requirements: 15-20% travel across the U.S. may be required.
