Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Field Technician – Summerville, SC

Position Summary

Kuhn Equipment is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Field Technician with strong diagnostic and repair experience. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy equipment powertrains, and be capable of working independently in both the shop and field.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair excavators, material handlers, and other heavy equipment
• Perform maintenance and component rebuilds on hydraulic, electrical, engine, and powertrain systems
• Conduct on-site field service calls and repairs as needed
• Maintain accurate service records and communicate clearly with the service team
• Ensure safe work practices in all aspects of repair and maintenance
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on experience with heavy equipment or over-the-road repair (required)
• Valid driver’s license
• Strong mechanical aptitude and solid understanding of:
• • Engine and powertrain systems
  • Hydraulics and electrical systems
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems independently
• Must supply personal tools
• Positive attitude, reliability, and a team-focused work ethic
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs as needed
• Familiarity with computer diagnostic software (e.g., Cat ET, Diesel Laptops) and Microsoft Outlook
• : A/C repair knowledge, hydraulic cylinder repair experience, and TWIC certification
• Certifications or technical training in diesel or heavy equipment technology are a plus
