Senior Hardware Design Engineer\n Cambridge | 5 days on site\n Salary dependent on experience\n\n Are you a seasoned electronics engineer looking to take ownership of complex, high-volume hardware products?\n Do you enjoy solving real-world design challenges across both new and legacy platforms?\n Do you thrive in a collaborative environment working closely with manufacturing partners and cross-functional teams?\n\n We’re supporting a global player in media technology in their search for a Senior Hardware Design Engineer to join their product development team. This is a highly hands-on role focused on delivering robust, production-ready PCB designs, working across the full lifecycle from concept through to high-volume manufacturing.\n \nWhat you’ll be doing:\n You will take responsibility for designing and developing electronic hardware, translating high-level requirements into fully validated PCB assemblies ready for mass production. This includes creating block diagrams, schematics, and detailed design specifications, as well as supporting board bring-up, debugging, and ongoing improvements to existing products in the field.\n\n Working closely with embedded software engineers and manufacturing partners, you’ll ensure designs are optimised for performance, cost, and manufacturability.

You will play a key role in resolving technical issues from production and customers, carrying out root cause analysis, and implementing effective solutions.\n\n You’ll be involved in a wide range of technologies, including high-speed digital design, serial interfaces, analogue, and power supply design. The role also includes hardware validation and testing, working with detailed test plans and lab equipment to ensure product reliability at scale.\n \nWhat we’re looking for:\n\nExtensive experience (10+ years) in electronics / hardware design within a product development environment.\nStrong expertise in high-speed digital design, communication interfaces, and peripheral integration.\nSolid experience in analogue electronics and power supply design, simulation, and analysis.\nProven ability to take products from concept through to mass production, including validation and manufacturing support.\nHands-on experience with schematic capture and EDA tools (any background considered).\nStrong debugging, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.\nExperience working with contract manufacturers and global supply chains.\nPractical lab skills including soldering, prototyping, and use of electronic test equipment.\nGood communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team.\nExposure to Linux-based systems or embedded software environments (desirable).\nPlease note sponsorship is not available for this role.\n \nKeen to express your interest, or find out more?\n Option 1: Click the apply button (don’t worry, we’ll discuss your CV before submitting)\n Option 2: Drop me a message on LinkedIn (Rachel Bush – SoCode Recruitment)
