Job Description

Senior Estimator – Halifax

Halifax (Hybrid – office/site/client visits as required)

£60,000 – £75,000 + Car/Allowance + Benefits

Regional building contractor | Commercial, Residential, Industrial & Public Sector

️ About the Role

I’m recruiting a Senior Estimator to join a well-established regional contractor with a strong pipeline and reputation across Yorkshire. You’ll lead competitive and single-stage tenders, build robust cost plans, and play a pivotal role in winning work across a diverse portfolio of new build and refurbishment schemes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead preparation of accurate estimates, cost plans and tender submissions.
• Review drawings, specs and ERs, clarifying scope and value opportunities.
• Source and assess subcontractor/supplier quotations, ensuring competitiveness and compliance.
• Identify risks, exclusions, and value engineering options; feed into bid strategy.
• Collaborate with Directors/Pre-Con teams on bid approach, programme and prelims.
• Attend client/tender meetings, presentations and mid-bid reviews.
• Maintain adherence to company procedures, ensuring quality and audit readiness.

About You

• Proven experience as an Estimator/Senior Estimator with a building contractor.
• Sound knowledge of construction methods, contracts (JCT/NEC), and market rates.
• Strong commercial acumen with excellent numeracy, written and client-facing skills.
• Proficient with estimating software (e.g., Conquest) and MS Office.
• Highly organised, deadline-focused, and attentive to detail.
• Based within a commutable distance of Halifax.
